Review on ACDelco Professional Drive Belt Tensioner Assembly 38404 for Enhanced Engine Performance, featuring Spring and Hydraulic Damper by Jack Robi

This product is somewhat difficult to review. When I got the tensioner in the mail (before I saw the factory tensioner that's already on the car) it seemed very cheap to me and hearing such horror stories about those tensioners failing and damaging the crankshaft pulley I got a bit scared. It's made of a very light material (aluminum, I mean) and I didn't think it would do the job, but the spring and damper were fine, so I decided to go ahead. But when I removed the factory tensioner, I felt the same way. Just pointing this out in case you take it out of the box and feel like me. It appears to have been made to factory specifications. However, the tensioner fitted perfectly and there were no defects. So if I choose this one over the more expensive one, I would definitely choose this one. I only wore it a few days ago, but if I learn anything new about its durability I'll definitely update my review.
