A lifestyle accessory, not a reliable tool.

If you're looking to hang a stylish accessory on the front of your cool off-road aftermarket bumpers, they probably fit the bill. If you're looking to do some really complex auto repairs, you should probably look at a fully certified US made part like the Crosby G-209A [which I'm buying to replace all the SmittyBuilt units I've bought] we got today A restoration done tomorrow on a 2013 Honda Pilot that drove into a snowy ditch at high speed. A Smittybuilt 3/4 strut was fitted to the front of the F-150 recovery vehicle. We have always used a double loop nylon cable. The other end of the tether was attached to a 2-inch WARN receiving block that accepted a WARN 3/4 shackle. We made at least 30 jerks and eventually pulled the car out. I am grateful for that. -The brace was severely deformed during the first half of our moves. When we tried to take it off, the threads got stuck and we couldn't untie it. It appears that the coating on the filaments has worn off during recovery. Also the shackle itself was bent under tension as can be seen in the photo. The Warn shackle was in perfect condition. Jacking up the F-150 handle strap fitted and we were able to apply enough leverage to unscrew the pin from the deformed strut used by was built Smitty. Get real parts used by lumberjacks, riggers and crane operators.
