Be careful when reinstalling Windows (I/O) Error

I bought this CD for a clean install of Windows 7 on a Toshiba laptop. During the installation, I kept getting the Windows 7 error 0xc00000e9, which means the drive was powered off and was causing I/O errors. Tried all USB ports. Additionally, if the laptop has a bad drive, you will need to unplug the internal DVD drive before you can boot from that drive. The drive works but fails when you try to install Windows. The manual suggests buying a Y adapter, but that defeats the purpose of a single cable. Alternatively, I plugged in an AC-powered USB adapter and a basic SATA DVD drive, and Windows installed without a problem. In the long run I would recommend buying an AC powered USB adaptor/drive or buying a thumb drive with 2 USB ports and/or using a powered hub. Again, the drive works, but you can end up buying a Y-adapter if you want to install Windows. The item was returned the next day.
