Review on πŸ”§ Engine Optimization: Replacing VTEC Solenoid Gasket Spool Valve Filter Screen for 2005-2008 Honda Accord Odyssey Pilot by Brock Chisholm

Problem solved on my 2007 Honda Odyssey!

I've never laid my hands on an OEM so can't compare them. Definitely new, feels like soft rubber. Bought a used vvt solenoid for Odyssey on ebay with no seal, this fitted perfectly. My first repair and it took a while to get the old part off, it was covered in oil, the old gasket was flat and hard. Installed a new (OEM used solenoid) part, it was very easy to put everything together. I felt the difference immediately, Odie didn't want to lose any more performance. Somewhat disappointingly, the VSA and Check Engine labels did not go away after connecting the battery. So I rode a bit that night and the next day come and guess what my most hated friends VSA and Check Engine are gone! ECO mode finally works! Mission accomplished, no leaks around the VVT solenoid. Seal approved πŸ‘Œ! Now I'm just wondering if if I had cleaned my solenoid and put that gasket in place would that solve the problem? I didn't want to risk it and the OEM I found didn't cost that much at all. and then i found that there was another seal in that solenoid so i hoped it was still good. and I assume it is because that fixed the problem. I will experiment on my old part! Good luck fixing it! This job probably saved me $150 in labor alone, plus the new part is $300 with the gasket if I took it to my local mechanic.
