Review on πŸ§— Climbing Technology RollnLock Pulley in Orange - Optimized for all Sizes by Therealwesley Shaw

Great value for money but when used correctly.

Great product. I like its size and versatility. Less bulky compared to the Petzl Traxion. All in all a great buy for the price. The loss of one star is related to performance. When used as a pulley at a fixed point. You have to make sure you're pulling straight down. You must use an oval or pear shaped carabiner. If you use a D carabiner, the roller buckle will sit askew under load, causing your rope to easily pop off the spool (pulley). Having a cleat in the "bite" position can cause your rope to pull the cleat around and lock the cleat in the open position. it is also difficult to release the spike from the open position under load. Even if you remove the load quickly with one hand, it can be difficult to release the mandrel so it can grab the rope. Because of its width. With D-shape and pear-shape carabiners, you cannot slide the RollnLock to the opposite side of the carabiner. So the position of the pulley as shown in the photo. If you have to move often. You must first remove RollnLock before disconnecting from your access point. Then connect your carabiner to the new anchor point before reconnecting RollnLock. If you move around a lot, this extra step can become tiresome. It's great for straight up and down movements like a pulley. You just have to be careful not to sideload it and use the correct carabiner.
