Comes in retail packaging. You can test the float on the stand by holding your finger at 2 different points as indicated. Checked at the stand, then installed. In a small place fit without problems. The pump can be replaced, but you will have to cut into the wiring. Both of my Livewells also use Johnson pumps. So far it has worked quite well. I filled my bilge with water and this pump kicked in and cleaned it. Release on August 16th
