Review on Organic Bamboo Cutting Board - Lifetime Replacement Kitchen Cutting Board - Wood Butcher Block for Meat, Chopping Vegetables - Greener Chef by Kristi Hovde

Revainrating 1 out of 5

3 things to look out for after unpacking.

*UPDATE after two uses. In addition to the previously mentioned problems, this thing doesn't get along with good knives. DEEP cut on the first slice, don't even try to cut that thing off. After starting the return process I still can't believe it has such high ratings. Bamboo is weird, it's a grass so it tends to "split" in this app. That being said, the number of "splits" mentioned is pretty insane. It's as if the board was dried in the desert for 40 years before being wrapped in shrink wrap. The next thing to note is the fact that it's not actually 18 x 12 inches. It's 17 3/4 x 11 3/4, so if dimensions are important to you (like my cutting board) you may not need this board. Finally, does WTF release gas out of this thing? The smell is eerily reminiscent of formaldehyde, which is VERY typical of bamboo products from China. These 3 things will make me look for another board. This one was supposed to replace a $9 bamboo board I bought at my local store Tuesday morning about ten years ago and although its glue has lost its hold, it's STILL better than what I have here. I'm feeling a bit underwhelmed as I'm not sure how this board got such high marks if that's what everyone gets. I'm going to wash and lube this thing a few times and see if it's worth trimming.
