Review on Stinger BKR200 Bug Zapper Racket by Nicole Thomas

Good things don't work in real life

We were delighted to get Stinger electric fly swatters for the boat. The previous owners of our boat swore by it. They said it was very nice to hear the beetle smack when you swung a fly swatter at it. They're made of cheap plastic up to the neck, where a rubber connector adds some flexibility to the rigid construction. There are three metal meshes each separated by yellow rubber, if the bug gets stuck between two of them it will be hit. You must leave the switch on for the current to flow. During use I found it almost impossible to kill someone with the Stinger. The rigid plastic frame is too stiff to shoot down a bug that has landed anywhere, and unless you damage your furniture, the Stinger is sure to break. It lets me swipe the sky as the bug flies around, the Stinger is heavy and doesn't rock fast, and on a small boat there's a high chance of hitting a crew member or a window or both. I am sure Mr Miaggi would not have had a problem but I am very disappointed if over time. The head was deformed and the metal bars twisted against each other. We ended up using a fly swatter. At $14.99 for a Stinger versus a dollar store fly swatter. Don't make the same mistake we did.
