Review on 🐠 10x18-Inch Acurel Infused Media Pads: Optimal for Aquariums and Ponds by Nancy Roelfsema

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Useful but not ideal for me.

I currently have a Penguin Biowheel 150 HOB filter for my 29 liter aquarium. After refusing to use the wrong Marineland cartridge filter, I bought one that fitted the same slot as the cartridge. I was able to cut it just right and add Seachem's Purigen and Matrix Carbon. This combination made the water quality in my pool perfect and the nitrogen cycle was controlled. However, I recently purchased a giant bag of filter fibers and found that much better results are obtained for less money. You see, despite the fact that the media platform is amazing, the shape I cut out ends up leaving a useless crowd. Penguin 150 does not forgive media tablets. Due to the high water flow, the Acurel seal clogs earlier than expected, which can lead to frequent and costly replacements. While the filter thread/fiber can be shaped to fit any size compartment with ease and durability, it cleans my water to perfection. I refuse to fully condemn the Acurel Medi Pad. It just doesn't fit my particular setup. I gave 4 stars for the excellent filtering ability. 1 star deduction due to lack of long-term and varied filter use. Simply put, I've gotten better!

Pros
  • for use with all filters
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
