Works well just not much information about it

After adding some algae eaters I had a problem with nitrates in my tank, all other levels would be fine. I tried Matrix and Purigen, lowered it a bit but not much. A few days after installation, nitrates were within normal limits. However, I could not find much information about the product. So far I've had it in my tank for over a month with no problems. When I flush my filter, I flush it well and so far it's still working. Gave four stars due to lack of instructions and information on a…

Simple & Effective Best in Aquarium Pumps & Filters

I have been using Accurel media pads in my Marina S20 filter for about a year. Cut to size, it fits easily into the filter slots. It's rigid, which makes it very easy to slide into place. It also appears to be tighter woven than other media pads, so it catches even the tiniest bit of debris. I also have Purigen in my filter and on the back of the filter I use an Accurel ammonia reduction pad which I also cut to size. Since I only use one portion at a time, a large pad is inexpensive. Useful but not ideal for me.

I currently have a Penguin Biowheel 150 HOB filter for my 29 liter aquarium. After refusing to use the wrong Marineland cartridge filter, I bought one that fitted the same slot as the cartridge. I was able to cut it just right and add Seachem's Purigen and Matrix Carbon. This combination made the water quality in my pool perfect and the nitrogen cycle was controlled. However, I recently purchased a giant bag of filter fibers and found that much better results are obtained for less money. You…
