As others have said, my unit smelled very strange the first day or two of use. I set it up in the bathroom with the exhaust fan running for about 16 hours while the thing was on high wattage. and it still smelled a little funny for the first hour every day for a few days. Now that I've had it for a few months, it seems resolved. The first one smelled so bad I sent it back to the manufacturer. They were good at it, as was Revain, but going through it and waiting for another heater to be sent in the middle of a cold winter was a pain! I really think the manufacturer should burn these things for a few days before they pack and ship them. Driving away from a cold after a few days of not using them, both of my devices were making strange noises that I attribute to blisters. in the oil. The energy saving option helps to reduce power consumption. The thermostat can only be adjusted in five degree increments (60 65 70 75 80). I would have preferred the level to be set to a degree as those settings are either too cold or too hot for my preferences. But overall I'm happy with this device.
