I bought this to try on my Ellis 1600 band saw. Price and free shipping within 2 days was a plus. So far so good for a direct comparison to the Ellis knife that came with my new saw. In fact, I'm inclined to think that Ellis is using a Simonds A8 stock. Ellis saws are known to use a dry cutting system with minimal heat transfer to the saw blade. Round tooth blades are best for dry cutting in my opinion. I usually order 3 to 4 TPI blades for dry cutting and I am really impressed with the dry cutting ability of the Ellis saw. My other band saw is a wet saw and works best with a finer toothed blade. If anyone has information on what brand of blade Ellis actually uses, please post a comment here. Many Thanks.
