I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix and my factory thermostat has stayed open after 10 years. I live in Michigan and since it's so easy to replace I'll be running the 180F in the summer and switching to the 195F in the winter. The exchange took about 5 minutes. If you don't know how, look it up on YouTube and you'll be happy. Also take a gasket with you if you have not checked it for a long time and cleaned the system. It's a cheap addition to peace of mind. It's up to the mark in terms of how well it holds up and opens at the right temperature. My car has an ultra gauge that shows engine and water temperatures and they're between 179.6 and 180.4 degrees Fahrenheit, which is the ideal range.
