This is really important for the carpet. I usually use detergent in my shampoo because it works really well on stains, I always have it on hand and it smells nice afterwards. However, sometimes I feel like there is debris on the carpets or that I'm not removing all of the soap residue. My rugs are about 4 years old but I've shampooed them many times due to pets and kids and I just like to do this regularly to keep things clean. The last few times I've shampooed carpets I've found that they don't wash out completely or they have residue or soap scum on them and after washing the carpet just doesn't look as nice as it used to have it cleaned. They didn't look or feel as fresh as the carpet itself and the fibers, although the stains were gone. So I decided to try this neutralizer. I washed the shampoo with detergent as usual and then after a couple of rinses, as usual, added this neutralizer to the tank and rinsed the carpets again for another rinse. It definitely makes a difference because the carpet seemed a little lighter. a little, and they just looked and felt better. It also pulled out dirty water easily when my previous water rinses only seemed cleaner. The carpets looked and felt like they had been refreshed and the fibers were better or softer. It looked newer and nobler again. The neutralizer smells nice too, although I didn't smell it for very long after drying the carpets. However, after I shampoo the carpets, I run a dehumidifier so they dry faster and draw out more moisture that may have seeped into the upholstery and such. I just feel like it dries out better and actually removes any remaining moisture. I also like the fact that this prevents/removes deposits that may be in the hoses, sprayers etc in the car. Overall I think it's better for carpets and better for my shampoo.
