Are these really 4-star headphones? For less than the $30 I paid, they're actually a little bit better. If the cord was detachable they would get an extra star. However, it is solidly built, heavy and durable. I don't expect a short at all and use these as one of my main pairs - the others being the Sennheiser 439 (lightweight, comfortable but boring), the Superlux 668B and the ATH M40x and ATH-IM70 headphones. They can handle a serious load from a stereo amp or deck without distortion, but their low impedance means they can be easily driven by smaller amplification sources. - even after a few hours of listening.
