Review on Grin Technologies Universal Version Electric by Kyle Ross

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice piece of steel

Nicely made - looks much stronger than the cheaper Chinese stamped metal imitations. But not very versatile in terms of fit. I tried it out on the Mongoose Dolomite, a very popular fat tire bike often used for electric conversions. On the wire side, my hub motor had a torque disc pre-installed. It was difficult to take them off due to the way it was connected, so I tried the other side where the disc brake is. The disc brake gets in the way no matter how hard you try to install this thing. If it had wider slots I could solder it onto the disc brake. Whatever the case, I ended up puncturing myself to do something of the sort. It works, but it was soooo close to a better solution than what I came up with (see image).
