Perfect for my laptop. I was able to make an exact copy of my old HD to this new HD using an online guide by booting from a USB drive and using software to make an exact copy of my old HD to this one. It was a little technical but I didn't have to reinstall anything and even now I'm using the new HD and on my laptop and all my files everything is the same. If you get a new HD consider making an exact copy of your old one on this new one as it will save you hours if not days without having to reinstall everything. UPDATE: I'm writing this update on my laptop, which runs on this very same one. Hard disk! I was able to use a disk cloning program to clone my old disk to this new one and then just swap it out. So I didn't have to reinstall all my software and I'm sure it saved me days of time! However, the process was very complicated and I first backed up all my files to an external hard drive just in case the process went wrong because if you get it wrong the data on the old hard drive will be erased and it will be gone. I can't remember what software I used to do this, and even using the correct terminology, I know for sure that this hard drive worked perfectly and was great for my HP laptop! If you are buying this because your laptop is telling you that your current hard drive is about to fail (which my HP told me) then I would suggest that you back up all your files before taking them anywhere or attempting to clone your hard drive first because if you or the company you adopt get it wrong you will lose all the files on your old hard drive.
