Fun (not so) scooter

Due to frequent accidents injuring family, we replaced the roll-size scooter this year when visits to the emergency room were actively avoided (2020) . The big wheels are much better, and the suspension and clamp braces at each pivot contribute to that smoothness. The front suspension was initially sticky so I smeared some thin lube on the inside of that area and it came off fine (I didn't see any adjustments for this). The rear suspension was a little soft for me (215 lbs) so I tightened the nut on the spring under the platform to better match my weight. The ride is much better than similar scooters because of this suspension. It's been a few days since we've had it, so keep your fingers crossed that it holds up well, as more features often mean more things can break. Where the cranks snap into the stem is a quick-release mount that dampens the vibrations that usually plague these things. I've seen other reviews complaining about the handle falling off causing me to scratch my head. The handle snaps into place with pins, like some vintage vacuum hoses, and then clamped in place with a quick release clamp, like many bike axles or seat height adjusters. It's pretty safe. Same goes for the handlebar height adjuster clip and the folding mechanism clip, they snap into place with something that clicks and then another quick release clip for good measure. All three quick release clamps stop vibration for the smoothest scooter I've ever ridden. The kids love it with zero fall accidents so far. My son (4) and daughter (9) fight about this lol. I have to lower the steering wheel for my son, my daughter can use it to drive in almost any position with the steering wheel. The footrest surprisingly works, despite being awkward to reach. Kids don't play with the stand, Timberrrr. Both of my 11ft sizes fit side-by-side on the platform, although they do sag a bit on the sides. Spins very well out of the box. After it's been painted/coated I'm hoping it will do better than the main competitor which seems very prone to pitting and rusting. So far I'm glad I bought it. Watching my son ride a small scooter with wheels the size of a roller blade, pole vault over the bars and land on his head led me to this update. Don't buy scooters with small wheels, buy one (8 inch wheels) or larger, your patch stash will thank you.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
