Like 16 oz. Stanley plumb bob, 8 oz. The plumb bob is made from finely crafted brass and comes with a replaceable tip. I bought 8 ounces. At the same time I bought 16oz not knowing the pros or cons of the difference in weight. Having used them for various tasks, I see two advantages of a heavier bob: First, the string is tighter and doesn't move as much when you try to mark it; Second, if you're working outdoors, a heavier bob isn't as easily disturbed by the wind playing on the string. The bob is easier to manage when you don't need extra stability. Due to the shape of the bean, it fits very quickly. The dot makes it easy to see when it's stopped swinging by comparing it to the mark on the floor. It also allows you to find an exact point on the floor below a specific point on the ceiling. It would be nice if the kit included a rope.
