Hydraulic brakes must be bled if they are not working properly. This kit eases the bleeding.

excellent kit. I bought several sets of Avid Elixir XO brake kits off ebay a few years ago. I use them on 4 bikes now and some of them have been difficult to set up. It turned out that they just needed to be pumped. This baby comes with multiple fittings. I have to screw the 2 into the outlet opening without any problems. The syringe that comes with it is well made. It even comes with a strap to hold the lever. I didn't use gloves as having some brake fluid on hand isn't that important. The first brake bleeding took almost 40 minutes. Degassing as instructed probably took the longest, as did trying to get all the air out. After two bikes, the venting time was reduced to 15 minutes. I realized that there is NO WAY to expel all the air and I don't waste time trying. I did my best and between a 40 minute bleed and a 15 minute bleed the feeling is about the same. I probably saved a lot of money doing it myself. I have the tools to do it later, in a few years.
