There are many parts in this kit but none seem to do the job The syringe is smooth and shiny. This makes a terrible and weak connection to the pipe. Oil enters the fitting under pressure. Good -- Good syringes, reliable fittings, extra O-rings, pads, helped me. there is no fitting to screw into the Hayes 9 lever reservoir. The Hayes 9 on my old FSB is always inflated by the spring. Since priming with two syringes is a bit tricky if not messy, I've always had the shop do it. However, this is not really necessary. I tried dressing them with a blow dryer to warm them up which helped a lot. (I work with hydraulics all the time, so I'm an expert on these things.)
