I don't know why this blinker has mixed reviews - it works perfectly (and has worked for several months). I tried to figure out which wire was under the dash and found that it was small enough that I could just thread it over the headliner and leave it there. I also replaced incandescent bulbs with LEDs at the same time to give them a stronger strobe effect and it works great. After a few months of use, I noticed that people in traffic are surprised by my bumper and quickly notice it. when i need to slow down This is great for getting the attention of the drivers behind you - that's what it's designed for. If I were a motorcycle racer, I would definitely watch something like this. Stop driving like you own the road and just let people drive where they need to, even if they maneuver at the last second. Of course, don't install them on every one of your brake lights. It's okay if the middle one blinks a few times, but you want the other lights to be on instantly and steadily. Make sure you have reliable connections and back them up after you make connections. It's easy to strip the wires, add some flux and solder, and then wrap them around (poor grounding will definitely cause problems/failures). The better the connections, the more likely they are to last longer than your truck/bike/whatever you use.
