These are sturdy enough but definitely bit what I was looking for and had I read reviews I would have figured that out! You have to be able to reach the pulley in order to lower or put the plant back up which defeats the whole purpose of what I was trying to achieve! Ha! So now I still get my ladder out to water my plants. The lock is scary for me to use, I feel like I'm going to drop my plants but they do support a lot of weight. There is another lower priced set on Ebay that does what I needed it to do. You can raise or lower it just by pulling on it slowly or pushing it back up. Hope this helps you not make the mistake I did!
