Review on Mean Well RSP 2000 48 Power Supply by Bill Schlag

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The device drew a current wave with an almost perfect sign, and there was no voltage.

The active reactive power compensation of this device is flawless. for sources without power factor correction I have used the power consumption in large parts at the peaks of the wave sign. this causes large voltage and current distortions and harmonics. Looking at the AC supply voltage and current in a 1200W device, the device drew a near perfect signed current waveform and there was no voltage distortion. I haven't seen the AC flat surge that is common even with cheaper consumables. Fans are load controlled, not temperature controlled. As I increased the load, the fan speed increased. I like it better than thermally controlled devices as I don't have to worry about hot spots. It feels well built and solid, and is smaller than I expected for the performance. One important thing to note is that the power rating is 2000W at supply voltage only. Running the unit on 110-120 volts AC from an outlet or generator will reduce the output to around 1700 watts, so for many people this is not a true 2000 watt power supply. Very good power supply.

Pros
  • Computer and accessories
Cons
  • High price
