[BAL-M50X] Lose some SQ for wireless but worth the price. UPDATE 07/10/18!

UPDATE 7/10/18! I should have updated this review sooner - I returned this unit because it ran out of charge within the return window. Great idea, bad execution. Next time I will try dedicated WiFi. [BAL-M50X] While browsing the Amazon website, I came across this Bluetooth adapter for my favorite wired headphones, the ATH-M50X. I bought it on impulse and ignoring my skepticism about the sound quality (wired or Bluetooth). Received my adapter yesterday and charged it for about an hour, then unplugged the headphones and plugged in the adapter. The adapter matched the headphones very well, but the design of the adapter itself felt cheap, but I wrote it off as it had to be light for balance reasons. I turned it on and the blue light came on and I started searching for devices from my phone and connected immediately with no issues. The adapter's default settings are to start in pairing mode on power up if it's never been paired, so pairing was easy. I've turned it on and off multiple times to make sure it stays connected to my phone, and it really does. I usually use my ATH-M50X with a FiiO A3 amp on my LG v20 with extreme quality FLAC or Spotify audio files. But sometimes it's difficult to use the setting, unless I'm relaxing on the couch at my desk just to enjoy the music. That being said, the audio quality over Bluetooth is really good, better than I expected from an add-on. on the. Going wireless would give my ath-m50x more options. But one downside is there's a noticeable difference if you're spoiled by a wired connection and a physical amp for SQ. You lose a little SQ to gain the portability aspect. I will update the battery life when I test it. Verdict: You sacrifice audio quality a bit for portability, not much but enough to be noticed. The maximum volume will be an issue if you want it louder. The sound quality itself is actually very good, as long as you don't directly compare it to a wired connection. But I have many situations where I can use the wireless setup. Still, a great little accessory that I recommend.
