Review on Bialetti Kitty Stovetop Coffee Maker, 4-Cup: The Ultimate Stainless Steel Brewing Solution by Steve Walton

Revainrating 2 out of 5

I thought stainless steel was better than aluminum for health reasons, but it rusts!

Update: After a few months the bottom of the Bialetti Kitty tank rusted inside. I have to use steel wool to remove the rust after each use. It's quite difficult to reach the bottom of the container with your fingers because the hole is narrow. If you open and dry the tank immediately, it may not rust. But the pot is too hot and I go to work shortly after making my espresso latte. I have now invested in a larger stainless steel espresso maker with a wider base and hope it doesn't rust like this one. I wanted to do without my aluminum espresso pot for health reasons. So I bought this stainless steel pan to replace my aluminum pan. It takes a little longer to make espresso than with an aluminum pot - 7 minutes versus 4 minutes, but I manage. It also makes less coffee than my aluminum 4 cup coffee pot which means I make 2 coffee pots some days. You will also need a baby bottle washcloth to clean the potty as it is quite large and thin. I make a plain latte every morning. I heat a cup of skim milk in the microwave, then add espresso and some cream for sugar-free coffee. With this pot I can make 2 strong lattes every morning. I'm happy with my purchase but may end up investing in a larger stainless steel. If you drink a lot of espresso or latte, choose the larger stainless steel size.
