I don't understand all the positive reviews. It's garbage. All the parts that should be metal, like the eyepiece body and focus assembly, are made of soft plastic. This thing doesn't even last a month. The tripod is a lightweight, thin disposable tripod. Even at low power, everything staggers. There is no high magnification because both eyepieces are so crappy that even a low magnification eyepiece is too distorting to use. Forget high performance. And forget Barlow. You are joking. I pointed this thing at Jupiter and the only way to confirm it was Jupiter is if I could see the moons (which can be seen with any binoculars). Jupiter itself was so distorted by the coma that it couldn't do that. On the disk it was a cone-shaped spot. With this telescope you can see some colored bands on the disk of Jupiter. Instead, you can't even see that it's a drive. The coma distortion is off the charts with this thing, even in the middle. The stars don't come into focus, they become blurry umbrellas. When viewed on the ground, nothing comes into focus through an absurd coma. Is my block bad? If so, then it's a massive QC bug. But even without a coma, it's soft, wobbly plastic junk. It comes with two almost useless plastic case eyepieces, a completely useless Barlow eyepiece (should double the magnification actually triples the distortion) and another useless fuzzy accessory, the image erector. Guys, this is a terrible telescope for astronomy. As an avid amateur astronomer I would ask you not to give this to a child as it is so horrifying that the child will give up astronomy before it even starts. I don't hold back This is without a doubt the worst optical instrument I've ever had the displeasure of using. In my opinion it has no redeeming function. Spend another $20 and get something that isn't complete garbage. I'm pissed that this even exists.
