This is my first time buying this item, it came with a stand. Kids love it and it also works for observing distant objects. But not as much as an adult might expect. I ordered this for my daughter who is now 8 years old. Now I have used many telescopes (not Hubble but we can dream) and microscopes and things can get tricky and frankly difficult at times. Patience is required and try not to trip over anything. It was easy to set up, focus and view. I don't understand all the positive reviews. It's garbage. All the parts that should be metal, like the eyepiece body and focus assembly, are made of soft plastic. This thing doesn't even last a month. The tripod is a lightweight, thin disposable tripod. Even at low power, everything staggers.
