Review on πŸ”§ Effortless Brake Piston Removal with OTC 4799 Locking Pliers - A Must-Have Automotive Tool! by Anthony Payton

Do not buy! in Brake Tools

I used this tool to remove pistons from a Brembo GT1 4 piston caliper. On paper, this tool looks like a real one. The jaws fit into the plunger and you clamp it like an inverted vise. It also adjusts like a vise. So far, so good. That's the problem. The jaws don't really grip the plunger enough to pull it out. They could at least loosen the plunger by turning the plunger clockwise/counterclockwise. There just isn't enough leverage to pull the plunger out. He also "bougered" the inside of the flask. Not much, but still not good. I ended up using compressed air and various C-clamps to remove the pistons. The tool itself is quite weak in the sense that it is not a tool for long-term use.

Pros
  • Useful for more than it's intended purpose
Cons
