Review on NOCO GENIUS2D Direct Mount Temperature Compensation by Adam Gardner

I bought this specifically to service the new Optima Redtop, Group 34, so in a jeep that rarely drives. The cables to the battery are 24″ and the connection cable is also 24″, which I think is quite appropriate. An extension cord is required for each installation, the length of which depends on how far the vehicle is from the 120 volt outlet. There are a lot of complaints about short cables in the reviews, which I think is stupid. Like others, I tied the charger to the zipper in a convenient location under the Jeep's hood. Then I routed a connector cable to the front of the radiator where I can easily plug in the charger without lifting the hood. Obviously, not all installations will be that easy and convenient. After connecting the wires to the battery, I connected the charger to the extension cord. The charger flashed several lights and then went into charging mode as indicated by the red light. It only took 2 or 3 minutes to charge, then the charging indicator turned green. Big. Very simple installation and operation does not require any experience with batteries. My only complaint as stated in the 4 star rating is that this charger is rated for 40Ah batteries as shown in the very last row in the photo. The owner's manual was the only place I could find this information. Nowhere in the ad is this information given. And of course my brand new Optima is a 50 amp hour battery. If I need this charger to recharge this battery from a deeply discharged state, this charger may not be suitable. However, I believe that the battery remains fully charged. This really should be a 4.8 star rating as the charger is very easy to install and use. Don't expect this charger to protect a battery that is nearing the end of its lifespan. Batteries that are serviced last longer, but this type of charger can't turn back the clock, so I recommend starting with a good battery rather than trying to revive an old battery that hasn't been serviced.
