I have two aquariums and have used it for many purposes. I added extra volume to my 5 gallon filter to add an extra "clean" to the filtration system. It seems to work. But then I decided to trim a little more to slow down the output flow. It works amazing. Yesterday I unexpectedly received a new Betta for my 15 gallon. The filtration in it is really too hard for bettas and I forgot to bring filter foam to help. Luckily I managed to cut and paste some of them in the right places until I could get the foam. My filtering still works and this stuff is way more useful than I intended.
