I counted, yes, 39 pieces. Comes in a nice hard case NOT made of that brittle plastic that shatters the first time you drop it. This set is assembled in the car for emergencies and I don't want the sockets rolling under the seats. It's perfect. Everything seems to be well done. The small rotating fin on the ratchet moves back and forth easily they are 13mm metric and 9/16" SAE so you won't be using this set to rebuild an engine but it has sized sockets enough to do most things. around the house and on the street. And the price was right!
