Love Retro Design is a classic that looks great on the counter Love Copper Color is a really nice copper color and doesn't tarnish Love Simplistic Controls are easy to use Love Reparability Factor - You can get OEM replacement parts. Love Warmer - Great for warming up all sorts of things. Okay, love aside, let's get to the issues that have overshadowed my relationship with this toaster: Toast performance hate is hit and miss, no matter if the toast comes out right the first time, I have to press and reset it Increase the number of toasts or set it too long and it will burn out. In fact, slice by slice, day in and day out, it depends on how well the "plain toast” turns out. I hate that the toaster often doesn't hold today's typical loaf-oriented slices of bread as if they were lying on the counter. Most of the time I have to rotate the toast 90 degrees lengthwise to make it stand up and fit. Should the Brits bake smaller loaves of bread? Hate the tendency for the 'M1 7' timer to fail - after 1 year to 6 months the timer failed on this $260 toaster. Now I know why Dualit says to ALWAYS unplug the toaster after use, THIS IS FIRE HAZARD! Example: If you hear the timer stop ticking, push out the toast and walk away, and the timer knob stops turning (no ticking) and the "No Glow" invisible elements are STILL ON, then the toaster will stay on indefinitely Time turned on a hanging timer. until you somehow notice later or god forbid your kitchen/house catches fire! Hate the cost/frequency of detail - with the premature failure of the timer. I ordered an OEM timer replacement part from US Electra-Craft following UK Dualit's instructions. However, the failure-prone part costs $58 and I have to install it or pay an "Electrical Engineer" to install it per Dualit's recommendations. This switch costs the same as other brands of toasters listed on Revain! Yes, Dualit toasters are repairable and judging by the failure rate, spare parts are a good source of income for the Dualit! The Copper Toaster has cast "aluminum" tips that look like they've either been thinly plated with copper; or applied copper paint with a clear coating for protection. While it looks great, you don't get a lot of copper for such an expensive toaster. I hate the feeling that I paid too much for something as simple as a toaster that just doesn't live up to expectations with such a low MTBF!
