This is a reasonable price for a KVM switch. Of course there are much cheaper ones, but most of them don't have a USB hub, just a mouse/kb connection. I'm using a switch to connect two work laptops to a monitor/mouse/keyboard set. I only use it to toggle USB as one laptop has VGA and the other DVI to the screen so I selected that and turned on my work monitor (NEC EA241WM) which is pretty fast. The advantage of a USB hub is that it supports wireless mice and dedicated mouse ports are not usually supported for some reason. A few years ago I had a fancier KVM switch with a hub and dedicated ports. The wireless mouse didn't work on the dedicated port, but there was no problem with the hub. Since this is a recurring problem with KVM switches, I decided to use a USB hub. Why not get a 5 star rating? Sound signal, it beeps when shifting. Not too loud, but still rather quiet. Another thing that would be nice but would probably require a dedicated port is a keyboard shortcut to toggle. Now the switch has to be in a suitable place, otherwise I could hide it and block the sound. Otherwise highly recommended. Sturdy metal box, decent cable included, so I'm happy with it.
