Review on ๐Ÿ”ง High-Quality 4290 Rear Hatch Lift Supports for 1998-2003 Dodge Durango - Qty (2) by Brent Saake

Excellent value for money, could use some small improvements to be great.

First I looked at the reviews before making this purchase so I had an idea of what I was getting into. Second, the vast majority of them work at both ends of the spectrum. Pros: Once installed, these things work fantastic! I ended up only replacing one of them because they are so strong. It holds the hatch great and even opens the hatch fully without hesitation once you start lifting it. So now I have a spare in case this one breaks down or something. The Bad: The hardware that came with it could have had small parts added to make it fully functional. I had to remove the washer/gasket from the original lift bracket and put it on the new one. The lift support is a bit fiddly to assemble. The threads fit, if you take your time and don't just screw them in, they fit well. The angles of the screws at the end of the lift leg are slightly different than they should be for a smooth installation. I had to put the top screw in first and then tighten the lift leg a bit to allow the bottom screw to install. I don't think you can plug the top right in if you install the bottom first, and this is where some of the other reviewers might have issues with pulling push or cross threads. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase. I've hit my head and nearly banged my hand/fingers on the sunroof so many times that I was willing to work a little and take a chance on this purchase. If you're willing to go slow and pay attention to how everything fits together so you don't over-tighten the screws, this is a great solution to replacing them at a much better price than going the OEM route and too to go to someone else. Install them and I would recommend them.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Hard to say
