This roof rack is easy to use, very strong and very reliable. Unfortunately it's not nearly wide enough for my canoe on my minivan. After the canoe is secured to the van with tie-down straps at the front, rear, through the canoe's seat, and behind the minivan's sliding door mechanisms, the outside of the canoe sits on the outside of the trunk. So if I have a strong gust of wind and the bow or stern pushes a little to the right or left, the canoe slips off the frame and then I have to stop because the straps are too loose. Separate the two foam blocks so the user can slide them along the cord depending on the width of the boat.
