I stuck chalkboard contact paper to a narrow wall in our kitchen hallway. These chalk markers are best for bright contrast and fine detail. There is no lime dust to deal with. They're as easy to use as any paint marker, yet only need a primer once to get started and sometimes when left for a while between uses. Clear water is sufficient to remove marks that are only a few days old. Stains that persist for several weeks require complete removal of the ammonia-based solution; a little ghosting remains if you look at it from the right angle, but that doesn't bother me as I've only painted/painted over the spot so far anyway. These markers work great on glass too - I left notes on the bathroom mirror.
