Review on Yonico 17702 High-Performance Carbide for Professionals by Joseph Whiteman

Excellent collection of bits, great price

I'm preparing to renovate my room completely with custom tables and cabinets, so I needed different vinyl cutters for different jobs. I'm aware of the high cost of bits and didn't want to spend too much money on a set, but I needed bits that would stand up to prolonged use. I've read reviews on almost every Yonico bit, both bit sets and individual bits. Most of the reviews were positive so I thought I'd risk the Yonico 17702 70 Bits Professional Quality Router Bit Set. The package arrived within two business days. When the postman handed it to me, I realized I had something significant. Considering you have steel and carbide 70 1/2 inch shank bits, the weight of the box is significant. The shipping box was well packaged and there was a lot of packing material inside to protect the contents. Yonico 17702 70 Bits Professional A set of high quality bits comes in a colorful outer box with a picture of each bit and its profile on the back. Nice gesture. I inspected the outer box and found no damage, not even a dented corner. Wooden box for bits. <edit> I forgot that the wooden cutting box was also completely enclosed in a two-piece 1/2" styrofoam box to further protect it from shipping damage. So the packing order was as follows: a regular packing box with crumpled brown paper, an outer colorful one Retail box, a foam box and finally a lumberjack box.The latches and hinges are of average quality and do the job as they should, nothing more nothing less. One feature is that the hinges are on the right side of the wooden box and the latches are on the left side of the box My brain says the box should open like a book with hinges on the left side, but that's something I can swap out while waiting for the glue to dry on a project Opening the wooden bit case, we find a collection of knives, all neatly attached, in Bithal tern made of plastic. There is a protective piece of foam to keep the bits from making contact with the cap. In the past I have received sets of bits only to find that one or more bits had come loose from their holders and rattled in the box, chipping valuable blades. In this case no; The plastic bit holders are tight enough to hold the bit securely, but loose enough that you can remove them with your bare finger without cutting your finger. The knives are arranged on inclined shelves and each shelf is labeled with the profile and dimensions of the corresponding knife. Note that some of the images on the labels don't exactly match the router bit above, but it's close enough that you can make an association, especially if you've been running routers for more than a year. a few months. I inspected every blade of every bit and they were all in perfect condition. No chips, cracks or prior use. All bearings spin freely and appear to be of fairly good quality. Although each shelf/tool holder is labeled, I carefully cut out the back of the outer box and attached it to the inside of the lid. I have tested several mahogany and white pine drill bits including 3/8" round, 5/16" Classic Bay, 3/8" slotted and 31/64" for straight drills. So far they have cut flawlessly and give nice, crisp, clean cuts. I use them in a Bosch 1617EVS router that sits on the table of a Bosch RA1171 router. These are not disposable like I've read in other reviews. With proper use and maintenance, a set of professional quality Yonico 17702 70-bit bits will last for many years. All in all, the price/performance ratio is very good and I'm also looking at a few Yonico bits and bit sets. That's a nice collection. Thank you Yonico!
