Update 08/19/2019: Still working and no complaints! I only have one of these and use it at home. I really should have just signed up and setup via IP, but I'm a bit of a nerd so I'm running the free Ormada controller software in a virtual machine. I've seen a few reviews that were bad about the controller software, but I haven't seen any stability issues with version 2.6.0 yet, but again, I'm just running an EAP at home for now. I was previously running TP-Link. TL-WA901ND is a 3x3 MIMO 802.11n WAP Access Point. I was very happy with it. It had amazing coverage, PoE capability, and excellent speed for a 2.4GHz single-band WAP. I increased our Internet speed from 100Mbps to 300Mbps and suddenly the 100Mbps Ethernet port on the WAP was a bit of a bottleneck (as was true 802.11n speed). Update: I bought some cheap 8-port managed switches to try out VLAN tagging on this thing, and damn it's a neat feature. I now have a guest network with an authorized portal bound to the guest network VLAN which I have restricted to WAN access and the VM running the TP-Link controller software so the authorization portal shows correctly becomes. I love this EP. I really like using the controller software, if I ever need to add another one it should be a very painless and hassle free process. turned on the injector. The low price helped too! I needed one of their EAP models because of the advanced features like VLAN support per SSID and captive portal. I've always wanted the guest network to be really separate from my regular subnet. So I only use it for about a day and am very satisfied. Yes, the range is a bit shorter than the powerful TL-WA901ND it replaced, but it still covers my tiny 1200 square feet adequately. feet and backyard. Should I need to add another one, the controller software makes integration incredibly easy. So far speeds have been excellent, with an average of 8 devices connected to the hotspot at the same time. IT supports MU-MIMO, but I'd be surprised if any of the wireless devices in my house worked in a way that would be useless. It also supports beamforming, range control, and fair airtime, which is pretty impressive considering the price. Sure enough, as soon as I turned on the band steering, it hit my wife's iPad, my son's iPhone, our Roku, and my laptop all the way up to the 5 GHz band. fast captive portal in a maximum of 3 minutes. It will also support coupons, including the ability to print them out so you can cut them out and hand them out. Also impressive are the stats you can get with the controller software. Once I receive the two managed switches that I ordered, I can connect my guest VLAN to a separate internet-only subnet. I'm just amazed at what this EAP can do for the price. Together with the control software, this is ideal for small and medium-sized companies.
