No leaks - two people working

We used this for a trip to the mountains. We have a Nissan XTerra with a roof rack. Our short break included a week packing for a cabin stay and hiking in the mountains. So we had a large fridge, 4 hiking backpacks, fishing rods, a tackle box, duffel bags with everyday clothes, a guitar, pillows, blankets, water boxes. you get a picture. After loading the back of the XTerra with heavy and large items, we loaded up the cargo area. We loaded it with soft stuff, backpacks, duffel bags, some pillows, jackets and more. It's wearable. Attaching it to the roof rack was no problem. The fastening straps (2 per corner) were problematic for reasons of their own to tighten enough. One of our concerns is the height of our car as we had to use a stool to even get to the luggage rack. Worried that something might come loose, my husband also used two straps for extra support. After loading and zipping, we were satisfied. We made sure all the flaps around the zips are down to keep water out. We were concerned that the heavy plastic/vinyl base might be waterproof and the zippered areas might let water through. First destination Everything was fine and dry when we unpacked. On the way to our second destination we got caught in the rain and when unloading it was dry inside. As with any good vacation, you end up buying junk you don't need. On the way back we actually loaded the container and to our surprise we were able to squeeze, push and manipulate the contents to fit in well enough to close. For the money we are very satisfied. It comes with a storage case, which is a joke to us as it requires someone with a Ph.D. in physics and engineering to fold the large media enough to fit back into the case. You should really put the roof rack on your car before you open it and plan ahead where you will close it. For safety reasons, this is a two person job. We would buy again.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
