Review on KOR Waterfall Filter by Chris Edwards

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great design, cheap performance.

Nice design, cheap version. I was so excited to receive this. I was looking for a jug filter that combines glass, aesthetics, quality and functionality. It's not, and it's very sad because it could have been perfect. The design is great, simple, easy to set up and clean and looks great. With the exception of glass carafes, however, all other materials are of inferior quality. Beautiful glass carafes come with plastic lids which pretty much ruins the look and for many makes the idea of glass useless because people looking for glass don't need plastic lids. The caps were already scratched which was a little disappointing but I still wanted to look for a replacement. It turns out that small wooden pitcher caps fit almost perfectly, so I'll use them as my purpose of the caps is to keep the water out of dust (not all tight, but all fit). The waterfall is made of plastic, somewhere between super cheap and super cool. It's strong, although not what I expected. I was hoping for a durable porous matte plastic (not sure what it's called) which is what I expected from a high end system and how I envisioned it. It's not bad, I just expected a lot more. It does leak outside of its intended drip hole, as many have pointed out, but for now all the water ends up in the carafe. I've ridden it six times. The taste is not great at all. I usually use Brita and it removes the bad taste, but these filters don't remove all the taste. While it doesn't taste that bad, I can still tell it's tap water. I hope the company starts selling better filters because they are too expensive to be that useless. I'll see if I can use them with Brita's filter content. Filter blocking still works. It drips a bit after I close it, but it's not a big deal. I gave it 4 stars because I love the design, it looks great on a countertop, way better than regular filter pitchers and I love the fact that I can fill a glass or water bottle straight (although it does drip around water bottles) . The glass carafes are beautiful and feel sturdy and I love that there are 2 in the system and that they have a moderate capacity so they don't get heavy. The design of this system is great. I wish they would use the best resources to glorify the design instead of doing something almost mediocre to sell at a lower price. I am happy to pay a higher price for better quality. Finally, the price is fair as it's different from other systems, it doesn't irritate the eyes like most, it comes with 2 decanters and a filter, and it's novel in that the filter is separate from the receiver. But I wouldn't pay more for current materials. It came a little dirty, I assume someone returned it earlier. And it was shipped in its own box, not a Revain box, so anyone walking by might have grabbed it if they realized what it was.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember
