Review on Master Lock Combination Button 5423D by Christopher Cheek

Great concept. Bad performance. No hold on the handle. Rigid lever for shift combinations.

Great concept. Bad performance. We use the safe by the lobby door for overnight check-in at our motel. Our previous locker numbers were difficult to read in the poor night light. When the big numbers light up on the dial, it's BEAUTIFUL. The box is just the right size for our keycards. But two main problems with these boxes. 1. The opening handle has no "handle". Smooth as can be. I basically had to hold the box upside down for the door to open. I fixed this by getting the file to the top of the handle and giving it enough resistance that my finger could easily pry it open. 2. The lever inside the box that needs to be moved "up" to change the combination required considerable force to do just that. The pen head will not do this. So now we have to use a small screwdriver that can be inserted into the slot under the lever to lift the lever and change the combination. We've used two other types of lockers in the past and both didn't require an additional tool just to change the combination. We'll live with those two design issues because the guest won't encounter either of those things.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Doubtful
