Review on Experience Hi-Fi Amplification and Alexa Compatibility ๐Ÿ”Š with Denon DRA-800H Network Receiver for Home Theater by Seunghyun Nahm แ Œ

I like everything, the price and quality are acceptable.

Beautiful (my wife likes it, which is important). Very loud. Never turned it on to full power. It's really scary for myself and my neighbors, although my acoustics can handle the power of this amp. Strange feeling. Probably precisely due to the fact that the level of distortion increases linearly. You are already waiting for clipping, but it still does not come, unlike with conventional amplifiers (see disadvantages). Thank God such power is not required even "under the fly." I canโ€™t set it up in any way with the bass acoustics Chorus-716. I completely remove the low frequencies by compensating for this with a subwoofer. The effect is convincing, You can listen to recordings via USB, but when you change the source, for example, to Internet radio, you have to reconfigure the subwoofer. For some reason, Internet stations amplify low frequencies by 40-100 Hz. This is not booming, but the overall rise from the very bottom to 300-500 Hz greatly softens the already cut top, and the hump at 90 Hz makes you remove the bass to the end and add bass on the subwoofer (low-pass filter is set to 60 Hz). The bass controls are just enough, and the treble adjustment has no chance. I don't understand her. What is the frequency of the HF inflection on this unit? It seems that not 10 kHz, but somewhere higher. Weakly wind it up - it's not audible. Strongly do not wind it - it cuts the ear. As a result, at low volume - boring things, but at high volume I want to turn on Direct. Maybe it's an acoustic problem. Before that, the same problem was with the digital Onkyo A-9755. Therefore, I do not recommend this amplifier complete with dryish and bass speakers, regardless of the size of the room. I have a room of 26 m2. Timbres can't fix it. Like its predecessor, the digital Onkyo, it warmed up for a very long time, constantly changing the timbre color and sound in general. More than a year. I don't know what's the problem. But in general, a very high-quality and versatile device. With "meaty" acoustics, it will sing like a nightingale. Maybe even Bluetooth will play acceptable (although it's unlikely with its codec). Well, okay. Grabs FLAC over USB over WiFi and HEOS installed on the phone. It's even more convenient that way. You don't have to turn on the TV. I took for 36,000. in 2022. lucky))

Pros
  • Versatility in connecting various kinds of devices. A sea of โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹settings inherited from multi-channel AV receivers. In terms of control and ease of connection, everything is just great. Very high power. Blows the roof off the habit. Doesn't get hot when properly tuned to speaker impedance.
Cons
  • Legacy Bluetooth with SBC codec. Not deep tone control (only + -6 dB versus + - 10-12 dB in most cases) with incomprehensible inflection frequencies. The manufacturer does not write the type of amplifier anywhere, but the sound is very similar in nature to the sound of amplifiers with a digital amplification stage. I had one - an exact copy (not much not to my taste). A feature of such amplifiers (IMHO by ear) is a linear increase in distortion as the volume increases. Those. when the volume is increased, the distortion immediately goes uphill, and not hyperbolically, a little bit, like in conventional class AB or B amplifiers.
