Review on ProGold Prolink 16 Ounce Spray Chain by Ashton Dahmer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

That's a good chain lube, but Revain's packaging is missing!

I'm not the type to give a product a bad review because of poor delivery. Revane put this bottle in a USPS envelope. There was no seal or protection around the bottle and the lid was not secured with tape. At least zip the bottle up so it doesn't fly all over the place when it leaks. It drips a little, but stinks horribly. (If you've used it, you know how it smells. Maybe kerosene?) In short: the thing works well for me. I have 6 bikes to service that often ride on muddy and wet roads. Long story: I love this stuff as a chain lube. I live where it rains more than 8 months a year. In winter I have mud and dirt from the streets. In the summer the road is good but riding the trail gets me in the dust. I have two bikes and take care of them for my wife and kids. That's a lot of bikes. Between weather and all bikes, I don't want to remove chains or do other tedious maintenance every 200 miles. I use Progold often and liberally, wiping the chains down after application. I don't remove all the sand when my bike is covered in mud. I think a new chain is worth $20. I would rather change it every 1-2 years rather than spend hours maintaining it. My road bike chain changes every year. I learned this lesson the hard way.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
