Review on πŸŽ™οΈ Dayton Audio iMM-6 Calibrated Measurement Microphone for iPhone, iPad, Android Tablets – Black by Bill Maki

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A very useful little microphone - if you use it as intended.

I've seen people complaining in reviews about this mic who bought it to record on their mobile devices. That's not what this mic is designed for, and people who rate it poorly due to their own lack of knowledge do a disservice to those who research this mic for what it's designed for. It is a measurement microphone for room acoustic analysis in combination with analysis software. It copes perfectly with this task considering the price. Standard measurement mics (connected to an XLR connection) range from around $60 on a budget model to $1,000+ on high-end models, so this little mic costs $22 (and even offers separate calibration files , which are available on the manufacturer's website). . . I really appreciate the pass-through output, which is very handy for sending pink noise etc straight to the console if you want to keep everything on one device (although you'll have to move around the room for more detailed measurements). ). and measure at multiple points, so you need a separate source for test tones). Conclusion: This microphone offers a huge bang for your buck.
