This unit is well built and works as advertised. IF, meaning you're clairvoyant and can figure out how the heck to install it with ESP. Of course, the instructions that came with it don't help. I'm still not entirely sure if I put it in correctly, I think I put it the wrong way round). Other posts said to orient the sensor horizontally and orient the device so that the sensor is pointed at the top of the vertical side. That's what I did, but then gravity pulls the seal away from the channel so there isn't enough pressure to trip the switch. Duct tape solved that problem, but conversely, gravity can become your friend instead of your foe. Or maybe it doesn't work at all as some of the other posters say. Who knows? Also, there needs to be good pressure in the duct for the switch to work - I had to partially close the upstream vent for it to work. It looks like a more advanced design would need to have some sort of airflow-oriented funnel on the sensor to make it more sensitive to airflow. Good idea. Good build quality. Bad design. Disgusting documentation. But if you can get it to work, it looks like it should be durable. UPDATE: Still struggling with this thing. It stopped working so I flipped it the other way around as some reviews suggested. Now it turns on reliably, but never turns off unless you press it. :-/ I emailed Tjernlund to see if they had any suggestions and deducted another star. There is no reason why something so simple should be so complicated to work properly. And I'm tired of constantly climbing into the attic.
