When I first received this mat and opened it, it had a strong rubbery smell (which is fairly typical of these products). It took about 24 hours for the smell to go away. Carpets are delivered rolled up. When first used, the edges of the mat want to keep rolling. After being laid on the floor for several hours, the carpet has loosened up and is now perfectly flat. It is very comfortable to stand on the mat. I stood on it barefoot, in slippers, ballet flats and high heels. Everyone's shoe prints show up quickly, but after stepping off the mat for about a minute, I couldn't see any prints from high heels either. Carpets are easy to wash and clean. With a quick swab of a sponge I was able to scrub the dirt off the children and the vivid black and white contrast was restored. The rugs are beautifully designed and the perfect length to fit through the front of my sink and stove top. I wish they were a little deeper because when I line them up with my closet's baseboards, my 10ft height is almost to the edge of the rug. Carpets stay in place well. Even with half a dozen kids and a dog in the house, the rugs stayed where I put them. They don't slide easily unless you intentionally try to push them (e.g. I went to the end and pushed the end of the rug with my foot to move it).
