Review on πŸ”§ Gaobige Network Cable Repair Maintenance Tool Kit Set: 11 in 1 Portable Phone Cable Crimper, Connectors, and Cable Tester for RJ45 RJ11 Cat5 Cat6 Cables by Erik Peterson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works as advertised. Light to medium use.

For the price this kit worked. I had a cable installer (lazy cable installer) split the category 5 cable to run 2 lines from cable 1. Needless to say, this limited me to T-Base 100 speeds from my gigabit router. This small, relatively inexpensive kit allowed me to clean and hammer in the top of the Cat 5 keystone jack, attach a new RJ-45 end to that TERRIBLE (and unprofessional looking) cable termination, and just test the cable before I used it connected to my switch. This increased my speed from 50 Mbit/s to 230 Mbit/s. Excellent quality for the price of the kit. Now I gave it 4 stars because honestly this is NOT a pro kit. The build quality makes it more suitable for home use or hobbyists. The crimp tool is NOT a ratchet tool and will probably not stand up to professional data handling. The tester worked well, but it's plastic and doesn't take a lot of abuse. The punch tool worked well and cut the wires after a few tries. I'm used to a different style of 110 down and to be honest it's been a long time. The included RJ-45 jacks are modular jacks and work well. The pins were straight and complete after crimping, the cable jacket was crimped tight, so everything was fine. I didn't get a chance to use wire strippers as the cable jacket he used to connect the two ends of the RJ-45 was about 5 inches twisted pairs only and I just cut it off with scissors. Overall this kit is worth the money if you understand that this is a light to moderate kit and don't expect it to perform like an expensive professional kit.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • I won't say anything
