Review on High Performance 16-853-19S 32-853-63S Carburetor for KT730 KT735 KT740 KT745 Kohler Engines by Robert Viher

I usually only buy genuine parts for something like a carburetor but the genuine part costs over $100 so I decided to try this one. My first impression from the packaging was not very good. It appeared that there was either some sort of corrosion on the metal surface of the carburetor or just poor reflux and lots of dents in the metal. I don't know if it came straight from the factory, was damaged in transit, or if someone sent it back to me, but it didn't inspire confidence. I'm more concerned with functionality than looks though, so I thought I'd give it a try. My next problem was that the two mounting holes were slightly further apart than the stock part. The tightening put stress on the two mounting bolts and made me wonder if it would stress them over time. He "came up", but with difficulty. The next problem was a small metal stop next to the throttle body. It is too long. I don't know if I caught a defective one or they are all like that, but it is noticeably longer than the normal one and has prevented the air damper from working normally. Even with the carb fully installed the choke would engage but not disengage unless I rock the lever back and forth or literally operate it with my hand. Unfortunately it is defective and unusable. I've gotten this far so I figured I'd at least see if it worked - unfortunately I was met with a terrible spike and then failure. Several attempts with the same result. I returned this part, paid the full OEM price from the engine manufacturer and this carburetor worked great once installed. I may have received a return from someone judging by the marks on the metal and some wear on the supplied screw but I cannot recommend this part even though it was in perfect condition as the throttle does not and will not fit . walk properly.
