No more flies - what attracted me so much

I bought this screen to use in my garage that has been converted into a gym. The last few years the flies have been brutal. Especially in August and September when my walnut trees shed their fruit and start to rot on the ground. The fly traps helped, but they filled up in just a few days and smelled really bad, so it's not the best solution. I was thinking of making some screened panels this year, searched for a screen and came across this item and others specifically designed for garage doors. Who would have thought that. My garage is now a fly free area and I am very happy with this product. Installation took about half an hour including adding an extra 1x3 plank of wood on top. After reading some of the other reviews on the installation I decided to add some extra wood to make it easier to create a high point where the panels connect to allow for minimal assisted closure, which is what happens. Also, the existing wood had worn down a bit over the years and didn't provide a good matting surface for the velcro to stick to. Like others, I chose to install the tape on the wooden frame before attaching the screen to it as that seemed more appropriate. I also added some staples here and there to ensure the velcro stays in place. In my application it only fires once a year during the winter months when flies aren't a problem, but I still found it best to pin it down and would recommend doing so if you plan on installing and occasionally removing this screen. . Although I have to admit the velcro is very sticky and comes with a small tool to press it into place. I would still recommend some braces though. In the end they fit almost perfectly. It was about an inch wider, which was easily compensated for, and about two inches longer, but it seemed to work fine. This allowed me to use a brick at each end to hold it in place and prevent it from being pulled out the sides when opening. With that in mind, you just push it open and it practically closes behind you. If not, all you have to do is push it a little and it closes like a zipper. I was really impressed with how easy it is to open and close. The magnets seem strong enough to keep it secure even in windy conditions and leave no slits for bugs. Yes it tends to stick to the door but only a little as only the metal frame in the door attracts the magnets and not the door itself which in my case is aluminum. I don't use a garage door opener so I can't say how it will handle the remote opening. The fiberglass shielding material itself appears to be very strong while remaining flexible. I chose this model which was slightly more expensive than others based on feedback on the durability of the canvas fabric as well as the cover fabric that houses the magnets around the edge and the weights at the bottom. It stretches a bit on cement so over time it can wear down in places, but there's nothing a little black tape can't handle. Obviously, airflow in the gym is an issue and doesn't seem to get in the way at all. Another benefit is that it's a bit harder to see into the garage from the outside, which I like, and it even offers some level of shade, which is good as my door faces west so it ends up being quite warm can become the day. . Overall I am very satisfied with this product. I wish I had thought about that many years ago. It's so nice to be able to use the garage without flies, mosquitoes and other flying creatures. I even use it at night to meditate in peace. I cannot recommend this product enough. Stop thinking about it and act. hands down some of the best money I've spent this year.
